Janison Chief Technology Officer, George Gorman, has been recognised as one of the top 50 technology and digital leaders in Australia on this year’s 2020 CIO50 list.
In its fifth year, the CIO50 list celebrates the achievements of Australia’s top 50 senior technology and digital executives.
Mr Gorman was awarded for leading Janison’s response during COVID-19 to implement high-scale online assessment solutions for our Accreditation, Higher Ed and K-12 education body clients. This enabled them to continue to assess education for more than one million students in over 100 countries during the pandemic period, including many clients who had their international students blocked from being able to return to sit physical exams.
Janison technology utilised integrations with online proctoring partners which used biometrics and machine learning AI to assure that remote examinations were conducted in an equitable and fair manner.
Mr Gorman said: “Our team was seriously tested when COVID-19 meant students could no longer be supervised in physical spaces.”
“When large volumes of students from around the world couldn’t sit their examinations in-person due to government health restrictions, our Janison team helped enable remote student assessment.
“I’m incredibly proud of the Janison team and their tireless work to ensure students still had access to vital education throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr. Gorman said.
Mr Gorman’s CIO50 award also recognised Janison’s ongoing work in aiding school children to get back to normal during the pandemic recovery period.
Over the past three months, Janison has delivered more than 500,000 online school examinations in Australia for ICAS and the NSW Department of Education.
The Janison technology team were also praised by the CIO50 awarding body for seamlessly enabling all staff globally to work remotely during lockdowns.
CIO Editor, Byron Connolly, said, “2020 has been an extremely difficult year for enterprise organisations across Australia and around the world.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic has put enormous pressure on tech chiefs and their teams to deliver remote working solutions that provide business continuity during a crisis.
“The CIO role is more important than ever.
“Businesses across many industries have been faced with some of the worst economic conditions in many years.
“Despite this, our tech leaders have shown real leadership and delivered technology solutions that will help their organisations meet their business challenges for years to come,” Mr Connolly said.
